CIMIT Summer Education Series

CIMIT will host a Summer Education Series in July. The topic will be "Frontiers of microfluidics and microsystems in biomedical sciences and clinical medicine," and the four-week program begins Tuesday, July 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Colloquium Room of the Boston University Photonics Center.

Leader for this year's program is Mehmet Toner, PhD, of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The sessions are free. The intended audience is graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

All programs are from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Photonics Center. The following programs have been planned:

July 8 - MEMS and nanofluidics, host, Jay Han, of MIT; also, cell manipulation on chips, Joel Voldman, PhD, MIT.

July 15 - Infectious disease, bacteria diagnostic and culture chip, Rashid Bashir, PhD, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign; also, global health and AIDS chip, William Rodriguez, MD, MGH.

July 22 - Systems biology, Fatih Yanik, PhD, MIT; also, microtissue engineering, Joe Tien, PhD, Boston University.

July 29 - Cancer targeting using nanoparticles, Sangeeta Bhatia, MIT; also, biomarker discovery, Scott Manalis, PhD, MIT.
