LEVERAGING THE CIMIT MODEL THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH GOVERNMENT, INDUSTRY, FOUNDATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
CIMIT is an established consortium and the recognized model for effective innovation in translational research. The evidence from the 10 year experience in Boston validates that CIMIT is making a difference in healthcare, and that this difference would not have occurred with usual systems and funding sources. CIMIT seeks to test the transferability of this model beyond the greater Boston area.
To better understand the concept of transferability, CIMIT now is engaging targeted centers/consortiums as International Affiliates. The underlying hypothesis is that the whole will be greater then the sum of the parts.
In addition, CIMIT is leveraging its model and the power of its network in plans for several strategic alliances with other world-class academic medical centers and industry. Building upon lessons learned in the Operating Room of the Future project, CIMIT is collaborating with the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration in their Hospital of the Future initiative. CIMIT is dedicated to helping develop medical technology that will help both military and civilian patients.
To launch a new software platform, CIMIT and Induct Software™ AS (Induct), “The Open Innovation Company™,” announced a long-term strategic alliance under which they will work together to implement a Web-based innovation management system based upon the successful CIMIT Model. The collaboration will draw on the strengths of each organization to develop Web-based tools that support the accelerated implementation of leading-edge ideas, clinical systems and medical devices through multidisciplinary teams of innovators.
Looking to the future, CIMIT will continue to engage and support consortium members, national and international affiliates, and the Federal Government; and to support CIMIT investigators in relation to these entities. CIMIT leaders will investigate, initiate and nurture new relationships, and assess the value of potential new members, affiliates and other activities with CIMIT member institutions.
