PROGRAMS I biodetection and sepsis control

Program Leader: Jeffrey A Gelfand, MD, FACP

The purpose of the Biodetection and Sepsis Control program is to improve capabilities in the detection and therapy of serious infections in individuals and the population, be they due to emerging infectious diseases, intentional bioterror events, or known but highly threatening pathogens capable of causing shock and sepsis. Initially, this new CIMIT science program will build on existing CIMIT programs for detection and treatment of biothreats. Using our extensive network of collaborating institutions and government agencies, as well as a growing network of companies, we will stimulate new efforts among these to expand CIMIT's ability to provide new methods of detection and treatment to both our civilian and government stakeholders.
