Background:
Mr. McAuliffe has been active for more than twenty years in applying novel laser technology to medicine. In the mid-80s he conducted Masters level research on the effects of ultraviolet radiation on skin permeability at Northeastern University. Before joining CIMIT, he conducted research at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Here he developed several biomedical laser applications including: laser-assisted drug delivery through skin, laser reversal of stroke-induced vasospasm and laser treatment of vocal fold vascular lesions.
