Background:
Dr. Rattner received his MD degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his residency in surgery at The Massachusetts General Hospital in 1985 and joined the active clinical faculty. He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Division of General and Gastrointestinal surgery at The Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Rattner is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of Minimally Invasive Therapy (SMIT), The Halsted Society, and the New England Surgical Society. Dr. Rattner is the Co-Director of the Harvard Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Rattner is a Governor of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the chairman of SAGES continuing medical education committee. Dr. Rattner has published over 100 original articles concerning pancreatic disease & biliary disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and minimally invasive therapy. Dr. Rattner’s areas of interest are minimally invasive surgery, technology transfer, and resident education.
