CIMIT Government Collaborative Research Programs
A highly productive relationship has been built between the US Department of Defense and CIMIT. In addition to running the largest health maintenance organization in the Nation by providing care for military personnel and their dependents, the Department of Defense is keenly interested in the quality of care provided to combat casualties, as well as the training of medical personnel. CIMIT is funded in part by the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center and by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. DoD partnerships include:
In the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command:
CIMIT is working with personnel at the US Army Soldier Systems Center (in Natick, MA) to develop and test prototype medical monitoring and care capabilities for the Land Warrior and Objective Force Warrior integrated fighting systems.
A collaborative project in Microwave Imaging for Rapid, Noninvasive Detection of Intracranial Hematoma is being conducted with CIMIT support at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). This project promises to deliver real-time, portable devices that can non-invasively detect bleeding in the brain for both military and civilian emergency care.
CIMIT is a partner of the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnolgies at MIT, with responsibility for program activities in sub-micrometer scale sensor devices and nanotechnology-based medical systems
