Forum Abstract
Multi-Parameter Assay for Personalized Targeting and Monitoring of Anti-Thrombotic Therapy
Thrombosis forms the pathophysiological basis for a number of common cardiovascular diseases, yet tools to effectively predict an individual’s thrombotic risk are lacking. We are creating a point-of-care diagnostic tool that will better monitor and individualize anti-thrombotic use in complex clinical settings such as following myocardial infarction. Our approach implements the concepts first described by Virchow years ago to provide a high resolution, virtually instantaneous, personalized assay of thrombotic state, which we call the “thrombotic fingerprint”. The simultaneous consideration of multiple parameters is a novel approach that allows for a refined assessment of individual thrombotic risk. The assay provides a powerful means by which to titrate drugs with narrow therapeutic indices to suite an individual’s need and to monitor the effectiveness of complex, ever-evolving, combination-drug therapies.
