Forum Abstract

This CIMIT Forum will focus on issues and challenges related to the commercialization of device inventions within an academic medical center. Case studies outlining different approaches and lessons learned in the development/commercialization of device inventions targeting different marketplaces will be presented by physician/investigator inventors in the first half of the Forum. This will be followed by a description of new and existing institutional resources available to assist inventors in the development/commercialization of device inventions. The Forum will conclude with a panel discussion on the issues and on the challenges encountered in working with industrial partners.
