Forum Abstract

New technologies are blurring the lines between traditional medical products. This talk will review some examples of what are thought of as “convergence products” based on microfabrication techniques. These include drug delivery devices and devices for diagnostics. A relatively unappreciated aspect of these products is their close relationship with medical procedures. Dr. Cima will focus on how these products can improve outcomes, reduce morbidity, and make such procedures useful for totally new indications.
