Andromed Joins CIMIT As Newest Member of
Industry Liaison Program

CAMBRIDGE, MA - June 25, 2004 - Andromed (www.Andromed.com) is a Montreal-based medical device company focused on creating value-added applications for the patient monitoring market. The company developed the world’s first fully electronic stethoscope and is a leader in biological sounds acquisition and analysis. They are now developing innovative non-invasive tools for the diagnostics and monitoring of cardiopulmonary function.

Andromed's product portfolio includes a non-invasive acoustic biosensor capable of continuously capturing, detecting, and transmitting biological sounds and vibrations; a line of electronic stethoscopes with high quality sound amplification, filtering and connectivity capabilities; algorithms used to assess patient ventilation and breathing regularity (for the monitoring of respiration under conscious sedation, the diagnosis of sleep disorders, the detection of upper respiratory airway obstruction, and respiratory disorders such as sudden infant death syndrome); algorithms used to non-invasively assess pulmonary artery pressure (for the screening and monitoring of elevated pulmonary artery pressure in patients suffering from primary pulmonary hypertension and in patients with secondary pulmonary hypertension related to chronic cardiopulmonary diseases such as COPD and congestive heart failure); and a remote telemetry application for continuous monitoring of physiological parameters (offering real-time, wireless, bi-directional monitoring capability to the home telemetry market).

Andromed has joined CIMIT's ILP in order to access and leverage CIMIT's broad base of clinical and technological specialists and industry contacts. The company is looking for collaborators interested in their novel patient monitoring applications and bio-acoustic sensor technology, providing valuable new physiological parameters. The company is also seeking OEM partnerships with leading patient monitoring companies.
