Dr. Martha Murray named site miner at CHB

Martha Murray, MD, has been named site miner for Children’s Hospital Boston.

Dr. Murray is a surgeon and principal investigator in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery.

Her research focuses on the stimulation of healing of tissues inside joints, particularly the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus of the knee. Dr. Murray’s lab studies the regenerative potential of the native tissues after injury.

Dr. Murray received her master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University, and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School and fellowships in pediatric orthopedics and sports medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston.

She is replacing Donald Ingber, MD, PhD, who is leaving the site miner position to pursue a major research initiative. Frank Pigula, MD, will continue his role as a site minter at CHB.

CIMIT site miners work within their institutions to bring together promising clinicians and engineers for possible research projects.
