New ILP Member!

CIMIT is pleased to welcome Physical Sciences, Inc. (PSI), located in Andover, MA, as the newest member of CIMIT's Industry Liaison Program.

PSI provides contract research and development services in a variety of technical areas to both government and commercial customers, with interests from basic research to technology development, with an emphasis on applied research. The technical staff of PSI maintains broad expertise in all of the major disciplines of the physical sciences and engineering.

Two PSI Groups of particular interest to CIMIT are:
1. The Medical Technology Group, whose current projects include:
* an optical metrology capability for medical endoscopes
* a patented eye tracking and image stabilization technology for retinal laser treatments and diagnostic imaging
* a rapid, spectroscopic-based technique for routine, bacterial screening of blood products
* advanced engineering designs for needle-free drug injectors
* thin film polymer-based sensors for trace gas breath analysis
* innovative, rapid optical feedback methods for enhanced control of medical laser treatments
* a unique optical sensor for monitoring the time-dependent yield of O2 singlet delta during photodynamic therapy (PDT)
2. The Life Sciences Group, which develops biologically-inspired technologies, including the development of point-of-care medical diagnostics, biosensors, artificial muscles, novel drug delivery technologies, microsensors for toxic chemicals, bacterial inactivation technology, and chemical decontamination systems.

PSI has joined CIMIT in order to become better acquainted with our interests and capabilities (and, in turn, to acquaint CIMIT with PSI), to attend our Forums, and to meet our investigators.
