ILP Member Renews!

CIMIT is delighted to announce that HydroCision, Inc. has renewed its membership in CIMIT's Industry Liaison Program. HydroCision, based in Andover, MA, was incorporated in 1996 to exploit the advantages of its proprietary fluidjet technology for surgical applications. High-pressure fluidjets have the ability to cut, sculpt, or drill tissue with high precision and leave a very smooth surface. By controlling the device design, fluidjet technology enables ‘differential’ ablation; i.e., the ability to selectively remove tissue of various densities - ranging from fat and muscle tissue to cartilage and bone. Potential thermal damage to surrounding tissue is avoided, since fluidjets do not generate heat. HydroCision’s current markets for this technology fall into two general categories: Endoscopic Surgery Products (currently in arthoscopy) and Dermal Surgery Products (for cosmetic surgery through reconstructive and trauma surgery, to chronic wounds).

The company and its advisors also see possible application in dermatology, urology, gynecology, oncology, and surgery (specifically spinal, plastic, cosmetic and laparoscopic). In renewing their membership with CIMIT, HydroCision hopes to continue to engage CIMIT's scientists, engineers, and clinicians to catalyze the development of their technology for currently known and unknown surgical applications.

If you would like additional information on the company or its technology, or would like to meet with the company to discuss a possible collaboration, please email Ann Humphrey at CIMIT.

Please join me in welcoming HydroCision once again to the CIMIT community!
