Accelerator Program Eligibility

The Accelerator program invests in teams, not technology, so to be considered for the program:

Must Be "Well Known" To CIMIT

The project or principal investigator (PI) must be “well known” to CIMIT (eg, previously funded). Typically, the project teams are members of the CIMIT Consortium.

Projects can not be simultaneously funded by a CIMIT Innovation Grant and CIMIT Accelerator Grant.

Must Accept "Heavy Facilitation" By CIMIT

The project team and PI must be interested in working intimately the Accelerator Team:

  • Milestones, schedules, commitments and quarterly reviews driven by Accelerator team
  • Project champion appointed (who need not be the PI)
  • CIMIT facilitators and outside experts put on the PI's team

Must Complete An Impact Plan

The project team must complete an impact plan. An impact plan is a starting point for evaluation (initially about 3 pages) and contains:

  • Project name
  • Project champion
  • Executive summary
  • Problem description
  • Solution description
  • Contribution of solution
  • Current/competitive solutions
  • Clinical impact (# of patients)
  • Current patent position
  • Overview of other peoples patents
  • Market size and assumption
  • Go-to-market strategy
  • Three customers CIMIT can talk to
  • Regulatory approvals required
  • Cost and pricing of solution
  • Tasks needed to reach exit
  • Work plan by month

The impact plan is very much a "Living Document" which ultimately evolves into a fundable business plan by the end of the project.
